Breaking A segment into multiple segments makes the ride seem much longer ... mentally. MUCH easier mentally to ride 3 segments than to ride 6 or 9 segments -- a trick I learned from a "friend" when she was training to do some rides with Lon & Susan.

Thanks again to you and Smiley for a great ride.skiffrunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17627376178648891371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6342856829001765305.post-51162146163596905332011-10-24T20:51:14.936-04:002011-10-24T20:51:14.936-04:00Martin, Why had you never stopped at the country ...Martin, Why had you never stopped at the country store before? Had you avoided going inside because of the door signs declaring: "If your pants don't stay up, don't come in!"? In spite of having lost ~ 50 pounds your pants stayed up well Sunday. I'm still slow enough that I think of time as a precious resource to be used with great care. ... However, several times this past summer I stopped and made use of the picnic table(s) at the entrance to the Buggs Island Recreational Area, or stopped just after crossing the dam ... that latter allowing one to enjoy the vista while eating / drinking / resting / waiting ... the former allowing one to SIT (in shade) while eating / drinking / resting / waiting.

Oh ... I mean, the sign on the door reads "If your pants don't stay up, don't come in!"
